Mbei Your flame still burns brightly October 29, 2012

It's been two years and we still miss you...
Words cannot express the depth and breadth of your impact on our lives dear Mother.
We just had our wedding, it was beautiful, just like you would have liked,
I know you were with us as we lit your candle together.
Your flame still burns brightly in our hearts...
Shirley Ayuk-Takem Gone but Never Forgotten June 27, 2011

Dear Aunty Meg,
It will soon be a year since you left us, and yet it still has not sunken in that you are truly gone. I remember how when my mother (your friend) passed away in 2003, you called me to console me. You told me that if I ever needed anything I should call you. Now you are gone as well.

I remember you from my days at Saker while you were visiting Bessem and from Chemistry class in Lycee and so so many other priceless memories. You were always so kind, firm yet gentle. I remember you telling my mother I cut class when I was at Lycee. Even then I could not be mad at you, because I knew that you cared. First my mother was taken away and now you-both in the prime of your lives. Life can be so so cruel.

I know that your spirit is still around your loved ones guiding and nurturing them each and every day. You may be gone in body but your memory will never be forgotten and your spirit still lives on. God Bless you and We miss you dearly.

I met Auntie Meg in the Sakerettes Meeting where I was the youngest member at the  time. Then she was sister Meg. As time went on and our kids began to interact, she became Aunite Meg and remained so till her home going. She was my Mentor, prayer partner and one whose life so bemused me. She would laugh or turn a sour situation into one of laughter just by her smile and an innocuous remark. I remember our early morning prayers and the family Bible studies she and her husband led.

In as much as I learnt home keeping from her, her death also has taught me a life changing lesson.  To live a life that deserves being called home by our Heavenly Father. God takes delight in the death of his children. It gives God pleasure and I want to live that life that will give God pleasure in calling me home. To live is Christ, to die is gain. Auntie Meg is enjoying the gain of a life lived for Christ.

Though I miss her physically, her legacy of humility and love for the nighbour lives on in my heart.

To Mbei, Agei and Bessem, remember that you have several mothers, fathers and siblings supporting and sharing this moment with you.
